I thought I’d keep it loose for this “Fill in the blank” Friday so knowing that there is no one that doesn’t like some type of music I thought it would be cool to see how each of us would describe what our church congregation is like and about through a song. Also, if your not part of a congregation or even a person of faith at all for that matter, I’d love to know what song best describes why not.
So just give the name of the song, the artist, and if you don’t mind too much, if you are part of a congregation and if so where. The song can be Christian, secular, old, new, top 40 or even underground.
The rules are simple. Keep it clean and keep it real. That’s it. Any and every thing else goes.
“When I think of the church I partner with it makes me think of the song ________ by _______.”
I’ll even kick this thing off for everyone. For me it would be Smalltown by Thousand Foot Krutch. Love the heart of my people at the Lifechurch.tv/Phoenix campus.
Sweet By & By?????
I can’t do this by Plumb
It’s not a link, so you’ll have to copy and paste to watch 🙂
Oh, I take it back, it is a link…. just click on my last reply
I would love to say Mystery by Charlie Hall, but that describes more of the LifeChurch.TV Internet Campus. But because you state you want the song that describes the physical church I partner with then Tim Hughes’ Happy Day is more the one I think of for the LifeChurch.TV Phoenix Campus. But so does Smalltown by TFK so honestly its hard to pick just one song when it can be many. I could even say God of this City by Chris Tomlin. I will stop now. Good question though, really forces one to look into the way they view their congregation.
Oh dear friend….you are talking to music addict. Granted…my whole life I listened to secular—and still will off and on. There are some amazing groups..when YOU KNOW JESUS..that you can hear what they are truly singing about—but if you don’t know Him..others apply it (as I did before) in other views.
My favorite band–always will be Lifehouse. First song Everything. You have to KNOW HIM…to understand IT ISN’T ABOUT US…You and Me..both songs were in our wedding. Somewhere In Between, and Simon also great…
Onto direct-glory for God–Israel Houghtons New Song The Power of One, and Just Wanna Say rock…
I will never let go of the love for Chris Tomlin’s music for His Glory….my daughter raises her hands to his tunes..such as How Great is Our God and I Will Rise
Matt Redman grasps—You Never Let Go
Charlie Hall-Nothing But the Blood, Marvelous Light
Delerious? Majesty

Okay for this one I’m gonna talk about the “church” Lance and I have been having with his cousin and boyfriend/fiance. The first song that comes to my mind is Set Me Free by Casting Crowns because I look at these wonderful people in my home and see that there is so much that is holding them back from being the person that God created them to be. The other place that I’ve been spending a lot of time, of course, is Church Online and I would have to agree with Crystal in saying Mystery by Charlie Hall. This truly is a place where I find my sanity in Jesus. I really would like to go on and something else, but my brain is over-ruling my emotion at this time. Love y’all!!

@Michelle – I just listened to Set Me Fee. What an amazing song! Can’t believe I’ve never heard it before. I thought I had heard all of their music.
I’d have to say in a cheesy kinda way “Love will Keep us together” by Captain and Tenille (spelling?). No matter how much adversity and changing of guards there has been in our church building….Love has kept it’s doors open and though we are no where near the size we were when Tommy Barnett was our pastor….the heart of our church is still to love the unlovely and reach out to them in ministry daily!
I would have to go with Revolution by Starfield. Everywhere I turn it seems like we’re letting God use us to change lives.
It has taken me a while to think of a song. But my life is determined by Run DMC, You talk too much..lol
